Soccer - Bridgewater State College Simao Mendes and Yasmina Carvalho chosen to the All-Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference teams
Bridgewater State College freshman forward Simao Mendes of Brockton was chosen the men’s rookie of the year and earned a spot on the all-conference first team. Mendes, led the Bears’ with seven assists and was second on the team with eight goals. Simao played for Strela Negra of Boston in the Brockton-based New England Luso-American Soccer Association (NELASA) last season.
In women’s soccer, senior defender Yasmina Carvalho of Brockton made the All-MASCAC first team.
Carvalho, a Brockton High graduate, made the all-conference first team for a second year in a row after being on the second team as a sophomore. Carvalho had three goals, including a pair of game-winners, in her final season.
